Drepung Gomang Institute (DGI) is the sponsor of the Drepung Gomang 2008-09 Tour. This institute, a Tibetan Buddhist Center in the Gelugpa tradition, is located in Louisville Kentucky. It is the official USA Seat of Drepung Gomang Monastery, a Tibetan refugee monastery located in south India. The monks on the current tour have been sent to the USA under the sponsorship of DGI to spread a message of wisdom and compassion and to generate funds to support the 1800 refugee monks now residing at Drepung Gomang.
Drepung Gomang Institute is a 501(C)(3), non-profit organization under the law of the State of Kentucky. Its Tax I.D. is xxxx.
Geshe Lobsang Sangye and Geshe Kalsang Samdup are the resident monks at Drepung Gomang Institute.
